Teacher Preparation Educational Program (GEO)

Program objectives:
The purpose of the teacher Training educational program is to:

  • To prepare highly qualified, competitive, and easily adaptable professionals who meet modern requirements and are able to adapt to the changing professional environment. A teacher of the relevant subject (Georgian language and literature, mathematics, citizenship, English language) at the basic and secondary school levels , who will have the theoretical knowledge, practical skills and values determined by the field-specific characteristics of teacher education for the implementation of professional activities;
  • To acquire conceptual knowledge of the field on the features of planning, conducting and evaluating the student-centered learning process, the main theories of students’ personal, social – emotional, cognitive development and education, the formation of a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment in accordance with the general essence and standards of children’s rights, the principles of universal design for learning, differentiated strategies for improving student achievement, diverse educational resources, the legal framework of general education, the main principles of classroom management, the importance of a collaborative environment for improving the quality of teaching and learning, and the professional development of oneself and colleagues;
  • Develop the skills of planning and conducting the learning process, using student assessment results, demonstrating the academic skills necessary for classroom management, developing a research or practical project/paper in the field of general education, adhering to ethical norms, and in accordance with predetermined guidelines, searching, collecting and critically evaluating data from various sources;
  • Develop skills in collaborating with the school community for educational and social purposes, continuous professional development of oneself and team members, adoption and implementation of innovations in pedagogical practice, as well as responsibility based on professional ethics and integrity when managing the classroom and work environment.
Prerequisite for admission to the program:

Individuals eligible for enrollment in the independently existing Teacher Training Educational Program must hold a bachelor’s, master’s, or an equivalent academic degree in a subject or subject group aligned with the National Curriculum. Additionally, they must have successfully passed the subject exam defined by the “Rules for Conducting Subject and Professional Skills Examinations” in the chosen module direction, as well as the internal university examination. Only candidates who meet the minimum competency requirement in the subject exam may proceed to the university’s internal examination. Candidates must take an internal university oral examination (interview).

The topics and evaluation criteria for the internal university examinations will be published on the university’s website (https://eeu.edu.ge) at least one month prior to the start of the examinations.
