Education Sciences Faculty

The Faculty of Education Sciences at the East European University is an educational structural unit that provides Bachelor, Master and Doctoral Educational programs. The faculty is distinguished by a variety of Georgian and English taught educational programs: education Research and Administration, Preschool Education, education sciences, Teacher Training programs etc.

The aim of the Faculty of Education Sciences is to prepare competitive specialists with student-centered teaching methods, who will be able to carry out administration and research activities in accordance with modern standards locally and internationally, providing employment opportunities in public, private, non-governmental and academic sectors.

Students will gain the knowledge that they will actually apply!

In order to achieve the goals of the faculty, the following is provided:

    Academic Staff – Qualified practicing educators from Georgia as well as from leading countries in the UK and Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Austria, etc.), who possess the necessary competencies for achieving the learning outcomes of the program, relevant professional experience in the program’s profile, academic degrees, and experience in teaching and research

    Faculty Infrastructure  – To achieve the learning outcomes provided by the program, the university’s best modern infrastructure, including the latest information and communication technologies, SMART boards, sports and wellness facilities, a modern library, and research centers, is used and made available to students without restrictions.

    Scientific-Research Activities and Professional Development – The faculty organizes international scientific conferences and workshops, publishes a scientific journal (a collection of works), and has established the “Young Scientists Club” on its premises. Students and graduates are involved in research projects under the guidance of renowned Georgian and foreign researchers. A grant of 5000 GEL is allocated for funding students’ research and cultural-creative projects. For continuous professional development, the faculty regularly organizes public lectures, certification courses, training sessions, and discussions

    Employment – 93% of the graduates of the faculty’s programs are employed.
    In order to implement the practical component in partner institutions, students and graduates undergo internships and practical training. Additionally, the faculty conducts internal university-paid internship programs and ensures the involvement of employed students in the learning process. The faculty continuously seeks potential employers and collaborates with them intensively, organizing job fairs, thematic and career orientation meetings, and more.

    The Faculty of Education Sciences offers students the first doctoral program in Educational Sciences (in English) in Georgia, which is implemented with the support of Middlesex University (United Kingdom). It provides students with the opportunity to complete any module or conduct research at Middlesex University’s Department of Education.

    Student Involvement in Management Processes – Faculty of Education Sciences students are members of the Faculty Council of Education Sciences and the highest representative body of the university – the Representative Council.

KETEVAN APTARASHVILI (ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR)

Dr. Ketevan Aptarashvili is the Dean of the Education Sciences Faculty, acting Head of the Department of Education at the East European University, the Head of the Master’s program in Educational Research and Administration and bachelor program of preschool education; the  Member of Higher Education Council, the Authorization and Accreditation  Expert of Higher Education Programs at LEPL National Center For Educational Quality Enhancement (NCEQE). She has been engaged in pedagogical and professional activities for years. In various years she was a Senior Specialist at the Educational Process Management Service at East European University, Deputy Head, member of the Representative Council. Since 2015, she has been invited to the National Assessment and Examinations Center (NAEC) to correct elementary teacher certification exam tests. She has been actively involved in pedagogical activities since 2013. She has a Master’s degree in Teacher’s Education and a Bachelor of Philology. She has experience of working in a general education school.

Dr. Ketevan Aptarashvili is actively engaged in scientific-research activities and in research projects. Under the ERASMUS + grant program, she completed a pedagogical internship at the University of Education Upper Austria (Linz). She is the author of scientific publications on education and teaching. She is a participant of numerous international and local conferences, seminars, workshops and a member of the organizing committee, a member of the editorial board of the scientific journal “Collection of Scientific Papers” of the East European University. She has been actively involved in local and international professional development programs, is the organizer of various educational projects and professional development programs.
