East European University (EEU) recently hosted a delegation from the University of Coimbra (Portugal). The delegation was welcomed by the Rector of EEU, Kakhaber Lazarashvili, and the Vice-Rector, Tea Imedadze. Meetings were held with the administration of the University’s Business and Engineering Faculty and the head of the Department of Scientific Research and Development.
The guests toured the new campus, familiarizing themselves with the University’s programs and offerings. During the visit, the parties discussed future educational and scientific projects and the prospects for collaboration, both bilaterally and within the framework of the European Union-funded Erasmus+ program.
The parties agreed on the mobility of EEU students and staff to the University of Coimbra, funded by Erasmus+, starting from the 2025-2026 academic year. This provides an excellent opportunity for East European University students and academic staff to study or conduct scientific research at the University of Coimbra for one semester and to enhance their qualifications in their desired fields.
The University of Coimbra, founded in 1290, is one of the oldest universities in the world and the oldest in Portugal. In 2013, UNESCO declared the university a World Heritage Site. The University of Coimbra comprises 8 faculties and has over 23,000 students.
