The conference aimed at promoting general discussion on management of forced migration caused by war; sharing students’ views and knowledge of impact of the war on the economy and politics and role of states in this process.
Welcoming speeches were given by Kakhaber LAZARASHVILI, the Rector of the East European University; Shalva MACHAVARIANI, the Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs and Lela GOGINAVA, Director of the Migration and Diaspora Research Center.
Kakhi KENKADZE – Research Fellow of Harvard University and Georgian think-tank “Geocase”; Nino LEZHAVA- Research analyst at the Parliamentary Research Center of Georgia and Tatiana SITCHINAVA, PhD Student of the Tbilisi State University were the keynote speakers at the first session of the conference. The speakers reviewed the causes and consequences of forced migration caused by war, security challenges and responding steps by the international community, as well as the immigration situation in Georgia as a result of the war in Ukraine.
The second part of the conference was devoted to researchers and students from different universities of the world, followed by the discussion around the topic of the conference.
At the end of the conference, participants were awarded certificates.
