On July 4 of the current year, the Faculty of Education Sciences at East European University (EEU) organized a simulated institutional authorization process for students of the Master’s Program in Educational Research and Administration as part of the course “Education Quality Management.” The course was delivered by Lasha Margishvili, Acting Director of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, and Associate Professor Ketevan Aptarashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences at EEU.
The activity aimed to engage students in quality assurance processes and to provide them with an opportunity to apply in practice the knowledge acquired through the courses Education Quality Management and Curriculum Development.
Prior to the event, preparatory meetings were held to familiarize participants with the procedures and guidelines of the simulated authorization process. During these sessions, participants were assigned various roles, including authorization expert, member of the Authorization Council, representative of the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, university representative, student, alumnus/alumna, employer, and academic staff member.
The evaluation process of the higher education institution was conducted in a simulated environment. During the first stage, the panel of experts reviewed the institution’s documentation and self-evaluation report and conducted a simulated site visit to assess compliance with the authorization standards. The experts then prepared an evaluation report and presented it to the institutional representatives, providing them with the opportunity to formulate an evidence-based response. The event concluded with a simulated meeting of the Higher Education Institution Authorization Council.
At the end of the activity, all participants were awarded certificates recognizing their participation in the simulated authorization process.
