Scholarships to Georgian Doctoral Students 2023 in France

The Franco-Georgian University (FGU), in partnership with the French Institute of Georgia, offers two-month scholarships to Georgian doctoral students affiliated with a Georgian higher education and research institution. These scholarships are intended to fund a research stay in France within a host team from a French higher education and research institution.

The scholarship, with a total amount of 2,100 euros for 2 months, is intended to cover all or part of the transportation and living expenses. The research stay should take place during the academic year 2023-2024.

Applicants are invited to submit an application consisting of the following documents:

  • Completed “Curriculum Vitae” and “Research Project of the Candidate” forms (to be downloaded).
  • An invitation letter from the director of a French research unit who commits to hosting the Georgian doctoral student within their team for a period of two months.
  • A copy of the passport with a validity period of 6 months after the end of the intended study stay in France.

Applications must be submitted in French or English. They will be evaluated based on their scientific quality, the feasibility, and the relevance of the research stay for the completion of the research project.

Proficiency in French is a plus.

Timeline:

  • Applications will be accepted until June 25, 2023.
  • Decision on the allocation will be communicated to the candidates no later than July 5, 2023.
  • The research stay should commence between September 2023 and April 2024.

NOTE: The French-Georgian University is a project initiated by the French and the Georgian governments in 2016, aiming to develop a high-level training offers in Georgia, in strategic sectors of the Georgian economy (tourism, agriculture, computer science, etc.). It is based on expertise exchange between France and Georgia in these fields.
