Prerequisites for admission:

The right to study in the Bachelor’s Educational Program of Nursing is granted to individuals who possess a complete general education certificate issued in Georgia or an equivalent document, based on the results of the Unified National Examinations, having passed English as a mandatory subject for enrollment in the academic program and having exceeded the minimum competency threshold established by the university (85%+1). Additionally, for continuing studies in the Bachelor’s Educational Program in Nursing, applicants must take a third mandatory elective subject examination in mathematics, physics, or chemistry.

Without the Unified National Examinations, the prerequisite for applicant admission to the Nursing Educational Program, according to the procedures and deadlines established by legislation, includes demonstrating minimum B1 level English

Program Aim

The aim of the Bachelor’s Educational Program of Nursing is to enable students to:

 

  • Provide broad theoretical knowledge about nursing principles, concepts, and theories, as well as basic biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and social sciences related to nursing;
  • Develop skills in nursing process management, including provision of first aid during emergency medical situations;
  • Develop skills in searching, collecting, processing, and analyzing relevant scientific literature, information, and data for the nursing field from various academic sources using information technologies, as well as developing research projects (papers) under predetermined guidelines while adhering to principles of academic integrity and research ethics;
  • Develop skills in oral and written communication with specialists and non-specialists regarding their research results, conclusions, arguments, complex and unforeseen problems related to the nursing field, and ways to solve them, using information and communication technologies;
  • Develop skills in acting according to teamwork principles during professional activities, conducting activities oriented towards continuous professional development of themselves and team members, as well as objectively evaluating the results of their own and team members’ activities;
  • Develop skills in continuously updating knowledge while adhering to the principle of “lifelong learning”;
  • Develop skills in acting based on confidentiality principles during professional activities and adhering to legal, ethical, and professional behavioral norms.

Program Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of the Bachelor’s Educational Program of Nursing, the student:

  1. Describes nursing principles, concepts, and theories, theoretical foundations of basic biomedical sciences, clinical sciences, behavioral and social sciences, research methodology, principles of statistics and biostatistics, as well as basic concepts and principles of telecommunications.
  2. Assesses the condition of patients from different age groups using bio-psycho-social approaches within their competence, analyzes nursing assessment results using nursing diagnostic principles, formulates nursing diagnoses, and manages the nursing process;
  3. Develops individualized and situation-adapted nursing care plans, provides consultations, explanations, and advice to patients and/or their accompanying persons from different age groups according to the care plan, obtains informed consent within their competence, and maintains appropriate medical records;
  4. Determines patient vital signs, performs peripheral venipuncture, peripheral vein catheterization, intravenous administration of therapeutic agents, oxygen therapy, subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, urinary bladder catheterization, nasogastric intubation, tracheal suctioning, tracheostomy care, drainage and stoma care, medication dose calculation and administration, basic patient care, uses infusion devices, takes electrocardiograms, collects nasal swabs, and conducts respiratory system functional tests;
  5. Uses personal protective equipment, follows aseptic-antiseptic procedures, recognizes their own health problems, and evaluates them concerning professional duties;
  6. Recognizes emergency and critical medical situations, assesses the situation, provides basic first aid considering age-specific characteristics, including primary emergency care during trauma and anaphylactic shock, and performs basic life support (BLS) resuscitation measures;
  7. Establishes effective communication with patients and/or their accompanying persons, colleagues, persons with disabilities, special needs, different social, cultural, religious, ethnic, and other affiliations, and multidisciplinary teams;
  8. Uses scientific achievements in practical activities, as well as evidence-based practice and systematic approaches of clinical thinking for assessing nursing problems, and evaluates the quality of nursing/medical services using predetermined indicators;
  9. Searches, collects, processes, and analyzes relevant scientific literature, information, and data for the nursing field from various academic sources using information technologies, develops research projects (papers) while adhering to principles of academic integrity and research ethics, according to predetermined guidelines;
  10. Discusses with specialists and non-specialists the results of their own research, conclusions, arguments, complex and unforeseen problems related to the nursing field and ways to solve them, in oral and written form, using information and communication technologies.
  11. Acts according to teamwork principles within nursing practice, conducts activities oriented towards continuous professional development of themselves and team members, and objectively evaluates the results of their own and team members’ activities;
  12. Takes responsibility for their own professional development, demonstrates the ability to continuously update knowledge while adhering to the principle of “lifelong learning”;
  13. Acts based on confidentiality principles within nursing practice, adheres to legal, ethical, and professional behavioral norms, as well as respects client/patient dignity and the rights of medical personnel.
