An international forum on Access to Public Information and Personal Data Protection was held at East European University (EEU). The forum was organized by the Personal Data Protection Officers Association of Georgia (PDPOA), in cooperation with the European Federation of Data Protection Officers (EFDPO) and the State and Law Research Center of East European University, which brings together international personal data protection associations and local sector representatives.
The forum was attended by the chairs of personal data protection associations from France, Greece, Slovakia, and Norway, as well as representatives of the public sector and academic community from Georgia.
The aim of the forum was to examine the scientific and practical aspects of access to public information and personal data protection, to promote an understanding of Georgia’s experience in the context of best international practices, to support the implementation and development of high standards of personal data protection, and to raise public awareness on data protection-related issues.
The forum was held over the course of two days. Within the framework of the event, participants discussed key topics including:
- Access to public information and personal data protection;
- Data protection regulations and conflicts of interest;
- International data transfers, international practice, and the Georgian context;
- Artificial intelligence and cybersecurity challenges in the professional activities of data protection officers.
