On April 4 of this year, the first public dissertation defense was held at the Faculty of Education Sciences of East European University (EEU).
Natia Gegelashvili, a doctoral candidate of the English-language PhD Program in Education Sciences, successfully defended her dissertation entitled: “Student-Centered Learning (SCL) in Georgia and Its Effect on Career Success.”
The doctoral candidate’s academic supervisor was Professor David Sikharulidze.
The defense procedure included a presentation of the research findings by the doctoral candidate, followed by an academic discussion. The committee positively evaluated both the research outcomes and the practical significance of the findings. The dissertation was also positively reviewed by two international reviewers.
The dissertation defense committee was composed of field specialists from both Georgia and several countries, including the United Kingdom, France, Ireland, and Australia.
The public defense was attended by EEU administrative and academic staff, master’s and doctoral students of the Faculty of Education Sciences, as well as other interested guests.
