Student scientific conference: ”Migration and diaspora

East European University Research Center for Migration and Diaspora Studies and Department of Scientific Research and Development with the support of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia and Parliamentary Committee on Diaspora and Caucasus Issues are pleased to invite you to participate in student scientific conference “Migration and Diaspora – global challenges”, which will take place at East European University on November 18th, 2021.

Aim of the conference: to promote awareness about migration and diaspora issues and identify the challenges and opportunities from the students’ perspective.

Target audience of the conference: conference is open for graduate and undergraduate students of any university, who have an interest in migration and diaspora-related issues.

Topics of the conference: it may include but are not limited to the following:

Migration and Integration;
Rights of lebour Migrants;
Climate Change and Eco migrants;
Children and Youth migrants;
Gender and migration;
Forcible migration;
War and migration;
Economic crises and migration;
Role of scientific diaspora in countries development;
Transnationalism, culture and diaspora;
Diaspora engagement in the process of sustainable economic development;
Impact of diaspora on foreign policy.

Working language: Georgian.

Presentation length: 15 min, Q&A – 5 min.

Format of the conference: in-person and Zoom format.

Participants must register to the following Link and submit abstract in Georgian language (A4 format, no more than 200 words);
Selected participants must submit scientific paper and PPP presentation (max 8-10 slides) in Georgian.

Requirements for abstract and scientific paper you can find on Appendix 1.

Important dates:

Deadline for registration and abstract submission is – July 31^th, 2021. 18pm (Tbilisi local time)
Deadline for the notification on the acceptance is, no later than August 18^th 2021;
The deadline for submission the final paper is October 18^th 18pm (Tbilisi local time)

All required documents must be written in Georgian and sent to conference@eeu.edu.ge with the subject line ( title of the conference)

Scientific commission members will evaluate the submitted papers according to the following criteria: relevance to the conference topics; identification of problem; reasoning; deep- analysis, conformity of conclusions with results, aims and tasks; research ethics, accuracy; presentability.

The commission will select three best papers and authors will be rewarded by special prizes, other participants will receive certificates.

Conference papers will be published in the online journal of the Research Center of Migration and Diaspora Studies and will be available for all interested persons
