Dr. David Cherkezishvili is the Rector and Founder/Partner of East European University (EEU) and Chair of the Supervisory Board of the Georgian Integrated Library Information System Consortium (GILISC). He has extensive professional experience in management across both the public and private sectors, including in the field of education administration. From 2013 to 2021, he served as Rector of East European University, and from 2021 to 2025, as Mayor of Tkibuli Municipality. At various stages of his career, he has also held a number of senior managerial positions, including Head of Department at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Deputy General Director of the N. Kipshidze First University Clinic, Director of a Referral Hospital, and manager of various regional centres in the energy sector. He holds a Doctoral degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Law.
Dr. David Cherkezishvili is also a Professor at East European University and an Honorary Professor at the University of Humanities in Warsaw. He is actively engaged in academic and research activities and serves on the editorial boards of the scientific journals The New Economist (Georgia) and Collection of Scientific Papers. He is the author of a monograph and approximately fifteen international and national publications. He has participated as a speaker and moderator at numerous national and international scientific conferences and has organised a range of research and social-educational projects. His principal research interests include education management and business administration.
