Funded by East European University (EEU), a Doctoral Summer School was held from September 1 to 3, 2026, for individuals interested in pursuing doctoral studies.
The Summer School was organized within the framework of EEU’s English-taught Doctoral Program in Education Sciences, which is implemented at East European University with the support of the Department of Education at Middlesex University. The aim of the program was to prepare prospective doctoral candidates for doctoral studies, enhance their academic and research competencies, and familiarize them with the specific nature of research activities at the doctoral level.
The Summer School was led by Dr. Louise Dellinger, Professor at Sorbonne University, Affiliated Professor at EEU, and Head of the Doctoral Program in Education Sciences.
As part of the Summer School, participants were welcomed by Ketevan Aptarashvili, Dean of the Faculty of Education Sciences, who emphasized the importance of doctoral education and the need to foster the academic and research skills of emerging scholars.
The Summer School also featured Davit Sikharulidze, Head of the Department of Scientific Research and Development and Head of the Doctoral Program in Education Sciences, who shared his academic and professional experience with the participants and discussed key aspects of doctoral education.
During the event, Tatia Rtveladze, a doctoral student in the Doctoral Program in Education Sciences, and Natia Gegelashvili, a graduate of the program and Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Education Sciences, shared their experiences with the participants. They introduced participants to their experiences of doctoral study, the specific nature of research activities, and opportunities for professional development.
The three-day program comprised theoretical and methodological training sessions aimed at developing participants’ academic and research skills, as well as enhancing their understanding of the specific features of doctoral studies and the key components of the research process.
At the conclusion of the Doctoral Summer School, participants were presented with certificates of participation.
