The teacher’s Conference – “Feminization of migration and its impact on adolescents”

On April 2nd, 2022 the East European University hosted the teacher’s Conference at the new campus of the university on “Feminization of migration and its impact on adolescents”. The conference aimed learning the impact of feminization of labour migration on the mental health of adolescents, the quality of their education and the ethical side of the relationship with the immigrant mother.

Welcoming speeches were given by Kakhaber LAZARASHVILI, the Rector of the East European University and Tea IMEDADZE – the Vice -Rector for International and Administrative Affairs.

The first part of the conference was opened by Ms. Khatia ANTIA, DAAD Doctoral Researcher at Heidelberg Institute of Global Health with the presentation on “Effects of International Labour Migration on the Mental Health and Well-Being of Left-Behind Children: A Systematic Literature Review”.

  • Tsatsa QVILORIA – Ozurgeti Laitury Public School teacher – “Impact of Parental migration on children – Economic benefits and Social losses. “
  • Nana TAVARTKILADZE – Senaki Zhiuli Shartava 2nd Public school and St. Alexi Shushania School-Gymnasium teacher – “The role of the teacher in relation with left-behind children of emigrant women”. 
  • Manana GRIGOLAVA – St. Alexi Shushania School-Gymnasium teacher – “Children and emigrant mothers “.
  • Lamzira TSIRAMUA – Vani Orthodox Gymnasium of the Georgian Patriarchate – “School and lift-behind children “.

The second part of the conference was dedicated to the discussion, which was attended by psychologists Ketevan KOBALADZE and Paata AMONASHVILI, staff of the University and the Migration and Diaspora Research Center.
