EEU Education Sciences Faculty organizes a joint conference “School Education: Modern Challenges and Innovations” for university and school students

East European University (EEU) organized a joint conference “School Education: Modern Challenges and Innovations” for university and school students on June 4 of the current year.

The conference aimed to encourage collaborative participation of university and school students in scientific activities, facilitate the exchange of student experiences, identify key issues in the field of general education, and explore innovative approaches to address them.

The conference commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Ketevan Aptarashvili, the Dean of the EEU Education Sciences Faculty, followed by a welcoming address from Dr. Kakhaber Lazarashvili, the University’s rector. The event was attended by experts in the field of general education, school teachers, administrators, students, EEU academic staff, as well as students and alumni.

During the first panel of the conference, the key speaker delivered a presentation on the challenges faced in the realm of school education:

  • Shalva Tabatadze (“New school model”), Chairman of the Civil Integration and Interethnic Relations Center, EEU Associate Professor, and a member of the Council of the EEU Education Sciences Faculty, presented at the conference. Shalva Tabatadze is a winner of the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) award for outstanding contributions to education reforms.
  • Tamar Toloraia (“Importance and goals of early education”), Head of the Department of Preschool Education at the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, and EEU Assistant Professor
  • Giorgi Chanturia (Flipped Classroom), Director of the Education Coalition, Counseling and Training Center (CTC) School Lab, education specialist associated with the “Strengthening Schools Initiative”. Giorgi Chanturia is a doctoral candidate in educational sciences at East European University.

Students from classes IX, X, XI, and XII, representing both public and private schools, actively participated in the conference. The students collaborated with both students and graduates of East European University education programs to prepare their conference topics, both individually and collectively.

At the end of the conference, the two best conference papers were selected by the academic committee. The authors of the winning papers are as follows:

  • Ketevan Sikharulidze (“Teaching the Recent History in Georgia and Latvia”) – a student of the Master’s program in Educational Research and Administration at the EEU Education Sciences Faculty, supervised by Ketevan Aptarashvili, Associate Professor and D
  • Lizi Tsindeliani, Elene Tsiklauri, Salome Gogelia (“Evaluation and Motivation”) – students from the Tbilisi Public School N45, supervised by Neli Abkhazava, a student of the Master’s program in Education Research and Administration at the Education Sciences Faculty.

All participants of the conference received certificates, while the winners were awarded special monetary prizes in addition to their certificates.
