The Representative Council of East European University is the University’s highest representative body. Its purpose is to promote the effective governance and development of the University by ensuring the collegial consideration and resolution of strategic institutional matters, while fostering openness, transparency, and active participation of the university community in the University’s governance and activities.
The Representative Council comprises elected representatives of the University’s affiliated academic staff and students. The Council consists of four academic staff representatives and four student representatives, with one academic staff member and one student elected from each Faculty.
A member of the University’s affiliated academic staff may be elected to the Representative Council if they hold the position of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, or Assistant and are not simultaneously serving as a member of any other elected collegial body of the University.
A student may be elected to the Representative Council provided that they hold active student status and are not a member of any other elected collegial body of the University and/or the Student Self-Government. Students become eligible for membership in the Representative Council from the second semester of their studies.
Academic staff and student members of the Representative Council are elected by the respective Faculty Councils. The Faculty Council shall review reasoned applications submitted by candidates seeking membership of the Representative Council, assess their motivation and involvement in university life, and, where deemed appropriate, may conduct interviews with candidates.
The Faculty Council shall make its decision through a voting procedure and elect the candidate whose participation in the activities of the Representative Council is considered most beneficial and productive.
