A new international partnership in the field of psychology is being established within Georgia’s higher education sector. A Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between East European University (EEU) and the Italian educational and research institution, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore. As part of this collaboration, the first European double-degree qualifications in Consumer Behaviour and Health Psychology will be introduced.
The agreement covers several key areas of cooperation:
- Master’s Level: Development and implementation of a joint Master’s programme in Consumer Behaviour and Health Psychology;
- Bachelor’s Level: Establishment of student exchange opportunities in Psychology and the awarding of dual degrees;
- Implementing exchange programmes in the fields of Management and Business Administration.
The mentioned initiative in psychology is unique within the Georgian higher education system, as it represents the first opportunity for Georgian students to obtain both Georgian and European qualifications in an interdisciplinary field such as psychology.
The Memorandum was signed during an official visit to Milan, where the Georgian delegation was hosted at the invitation of the Italian university. During the visit, a series of working meetings were held with representatives of the Faculties of Education and Psychology, as well as members of the university’s central administration.
According to the Rector of East European University, Dr. David Cherkezishvili: “One of the University’s main priorities is to expand opportunities for student development through active collaboration with leading universities worldwide and to continuously enhance the quality of education through ongoing institutional development.”
Consumer Behaviour Psychology is currently one of the most dynamic and demanded disciplines globally, playing a critical role in the advancement of modern industries. Graduates of the programme will contribute to addressing skills shortages across key sectors, including healthcare and public health policy; business and marketing, through the development of consumer-oriented products and services; and digital technologies, through user experience analysis and behavioural modelling.
The distinctiveness of this project is further reinforced by the scale and reputation of the partner institution. Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is one of Italy’s most influential educational and research centres, known for its outstanding academic schools in psychology, medicine, and the social sciences.
Through this partnership, East European University further strengthens its academic profile within the Georgian educational sector and continues to implement its strategic vision of fostering a student-centred educational environment grounded in international best practices. The collaboration will provide students and academic staff with expanded opportunities for international mobility and integration into global scientific and research networks.
