On July 9, 2026, East European University hosted the Horizon Europe Georgia National Office Information Day, which brought together members of the University’s academic community, including academic staff, researchers, and doctoral candidates.
The event aimed to familiarize participants with the opportunities offered by Horizon Europe, the European Union’s flagship research and innovation funding programme, while promoting international scientific collaboration and providing practical guidance on participation in Horizon Europe funding calls.
The meeting was opened by the Rector of East European University, Prof. Davit Cherkezishvili, who highlighted the importance of international research collaboration and the need for active engagement in European Union grant programmes.
As part of the event, participants received a detailed overview of the Horizon Europe programme structure and the 2026 Work Programmes, as well as information on ongoing and upcoming funding calls.
One of the key topics of the session was Cluster 2 – “Culture, Creativity and Inclusive Society”. A presentation on the related calls for proposals and funding opportunities was delivered by Ms. Tamar Berberashvili, the National Contact Point for Clusters I, III, and IV.
In the second part of the event, Ms. Teona Maisuradze, the National Contact Point for Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, presented funding opportunities for postdoctoral research, doctoral networks, and joint doctoral programmes. Participants received information about the mechanisms available under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions, as well as opportunities for international mobility and the development of research collaboration.
In the final part of the event, Ms. Ana Goletiani, the National Contact Point for the European Innovation Council, European Innovation Ecosystems, Innovation, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology, and NEB4All, provided an overview of the 2026 challenges and funding opportunities.
The meeting served as an important opportunity for the University’s academic staff and doctoral candidates to deepen their knowledge of European Union research and innovation funding instruments, explore pathways for developing international partnerships, and receive practical recommendations for preparing competitive grant proposals.
The event concluded with a Q&A session, during which participants had the opportunity to receive additional information and guidance from the speakers on topics of interest.
