The Austrian Federal Ministry for Women, Science and Research announces scholarship opportunities for the 2027-2028 academic year, aimed at students, graduates, and researchers.
Information on the scholarships is available through the Austrian Database for Scholarships and Research Grants (grants.at), which is available in both German and English. In addition to programmes offered by the Federal Ministry, the database also provides information on scholarship and research grant opportunities offered by other institutions.
The following programmes are available for the 2027-2028 academic year:
- Franz Werfel Scholarship – target countries: worldwide;
- Ernst Mach Scholarship – target countries: worldwide;
- Ernst Mach Scholarship for Studies at an Austrian University of Applied Sciences – target countries: non-European countries and Ukraine;
- Ernst Mach Follow-up Grant (Development Cooperation) – target countries: non-European developing countries, according to the OECD Development Assistance Committee (DAC) List;
- Ernst Mach Scholarship – ASEA-UNINET.

For the 2027-2028 academic year, the total volume of scholarships offered by the Austrian Federal Ministry amounts to 1,300 scholarship months.
