NATIA GEGELASHVILI (ASSISTANT PROFESSOR)

Doctor of Education Science
Specialty: Education

Natia Gegelashvili is a Doctor of Education Science. She completed a joint doctoral program in Education Science, delivered in collaboration between Middlesex University London and East European University, in 2025. She holds a Master’s degree in Communication Research from Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (Germany), awarded in 2016. She also holds two Bachelor’s degrees: in Publicistics/Sociology from Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (2013) and in Television and Radio Journalism from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (2006). Her academic background reflects strong interdisciplinary training across education sciences, sociology, communication, and media studies.
Ms. Gegelashvili has extensive professional experience in qualitative and quantitative research, both in academic and applied research settings. From 2014 to 2022, she worked in Germany as a research project manager and researcher at IFAK – Institute for Market and Social Research (Wiesbaden, Germany), where she managed international research projects, developed research instruments, coordinated fieldwork, conducted data analysis, and prepared evidence-based recommendations for institutional stakeholders.
Since 2022, she has been affiliated with East European University, serving as a Senior Specialist at the Research and Development Department, where she supports scientific research activities, participates in grant proposal development, and fosters international academic collaboration. Since 2024, she has also been working as an Authorization and Accreditation Expert at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement of Georgia, contributing to the evaluation of higher education institutions against national quality standards and supporting institutional quality improvement.
Her academic and research interests lie at the intersection of SCL, higher education policy, educational quality assurance, student and academic staff well-being, and career outcomes of higher education graduates.
Her research output includes peer-reviewed journal articles, conference proceedings, and contributions to international edited volumes, with publications indexed in Scopus, Springer, and journals affiliated with Sorbonne University. She is also an active participant in both local and international scientific conferences.
Ms. Gegelashvili has received multiple academic awards and research grants, including a Doctoral Research Grant from Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia and the Emerging Scholar Award from the international research network Health, Wellness and Society (Granada, Spain). She is fluent in Georgian, German, and English, and actively engages in interdisciplinary research projects at the national and international levels.
