Dr. Ekaterine Jaiani is the head of Scientific Council and a leading scientist at the G. Eliava Institute of Bacteriophage, Microbiology and Virology. She has been engaged in scientific and pedagogical activities for many years and she was the Head of Laboratory of Water Microbiology at the Agricultural University. Her main research areas are Microbiology and Virology.

Dr. Ekaterine Jaiani is the author of numerous local and international scientific articles and one monograph, a speaker at local and international scientific conferences and workshops, has participated in over 15 international research projects, has completed internships in research institutes and scientific laboratories in Europe, and has completed professional development programs. She has been awarded by various research fellowships and awards including DAAD fellowships and NATO Linkage Grant.
