On October 28, 2025, East European University hosted the awareness event Breast Cancer Awareness Day – Beyond Pink organized by the Student Support Community and the Faculty of Healthcare Sciences.
The aim of the event was to raise awareness about breast cancer — one of the most common oncological diseases in Georgia and worldwide — and to emphasize that early detection and preventive measures significantly increase the chances of recovery. The initiative also aimed to promote a culture of responsibility toward personal health among students and the broader community.
The event was opened by Prof. Kakhaber Lazarashvili, Rector and Elene Zurabishvili, Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Healthcare Sciences at East European University, who highlighted the importance of health education and community engagement in disease prevention. The keynote speaker of the event was Dr. Mariam Kharaishvili, Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Invited Lecturer at the Faculty of Healthcare Sciences, who delivered a comprehensive presentation on breast cancer prevention, early signs, and self-examination techniques.
Participants engaged in an interactive workshop, where practical demonstrations using simulation models were conducted, enabling attendees to observe and practice proper self-examination techniques. The session also included an interactive Q&A and awareness-driven activities to encourage active participation and knowledge sharing.
