On September 30, 2024, professors Panayotis Angelides and Christina Hajisoteriou from the University of Nicosia visited East European University as part of the ERASMUS+ staff mobility for training. Professor Angelides is the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs at the University of Nicosia, while Professor Hajisoteriou represents the School of Education. Their research interests relate to both intercultural education as well as general and higher education.
During their visit, the professors met with the Rector of East European University, Kakhaber Lazarashvili, representatives from the faculties of Education Sciences and Business and Engineering, International Relations and the Scientific Research and Development Departments. The meetings discussed opportunities for deepening collaboration and joint projects.
The visit also included a workshop for students and academic staff of the Faculty of Education Sciences. The event was opened by the Dean of the Faculty Education Sciences, Ketevan Aptarashvili. During the meeting, Professor Angelides shared information about the University of Nicosia, its educational programs, and the education system in Cyprus. The second part of the workshop was dedicated to a public lecture, in which Professor Hajisoteriou presented the topic “Diversity and Inclusive Education in the Global World.”
The workshop concluded with a summarizing discussion, where the speakers addressed questions from the audience.
