Information about project

Book title (and edition): Jurisprudence Theory and Context, Eighth Edition

Author: Brian H. Bix

Publisher: Carolina Academic Press

Year: 2019

This book is a must-read for judges, lawyers, practitioners, policymakers, political and legal theorists. However, the primary target audience of this book are students of legal and political studies.

The book’s main virtue is that it brings the fresh Anglo-American perspective on jurisprudence and political theory to the reader’s table in a comprehensible language, making it suitable even for nonprofessionals. It is also modern in that it also comprises the analysis of economics and law and feminist theory of jurisprudence.

Translation project is necessarily based on the conviction that sound theoretical underpinnings are indispensable for the efficient, success-oriented, and forward-looking practical enterprise. Theory and practice complement, and none of them is full without each other. The theoretical input this book provides for constitutes invaluable theoretical and practical appraisal of how rule of law, law, and politics in general and concrete decisions taken on the level of public decision-making should seek the equilibrium to get the best possible result for the society protecting the overall good on the one hand, and the rights and freedom of affected stakeholders on the other. This will be extremely useful and beneficial at all places where the law is taught, especially at the undergraduate and MA levels.

Book translation will be carried out by Lasha Lursmanashvili, Researcher, of Varlam Cherkezishvili Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies, East European University;

Scientific Editor will be: Prof. Dr. Giorgi Tavadze, Head of the Varlam Cherkezishvili Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies, East European University

East European University Research Project: ’’Organizational Behavior: A Skill-Building Approach’’ of the Book Translation Program 2020 announced by U.S Embassy in Georgia.

Principal Investigator: Professor Shalva Machavariani, Vice-Rector for Scientific Affairs of East European University;

Coordinator: Tatia Gherkenashvili, Senior Manager of Scientific Research and Development Division of East European University.

About Publication:

Book title (and edition): Organizational Behavior: A Skill-Building Approach (Second Ed.)

ISBN 978-1544317540

Authors: Christopher P. Neck, Jeffery D. Houghton, Emma L. Murray

Publisher: SAGE Publications, Inc

Publication year: 23 January, 2019

Organizational Behavior: A Skill-Building Approach is a textbook for students seeking insight into individual behavior, group behavior, organizational structure, and organizational processes through the lens of critical thinking. Students are provided with opportunities to develop motivational, leadership, and teamwork skills that will help them to analyze behavioral patterns and take appropriate actions to help shape and influence those behaviors in positive ways.

Practical applications, self-assessments, experiential exercises, and additional pedagogical features make OB come to life and encourage students to engage with OB concepts in meaningful ways.

Critical thinking is an essential skill; managers use critical thinking to understand, explain, predict, and influence behavior in the workplace. A critical thinker uses his or her intelligence, knowledge, and skills to question and carefully explore situations and to arrive at thoughtful conclusions based on evidence and reason. In Organizational Behavior: A Skill-Building Approach, authors use the components and core skills of critical thinking to teach the many facets of organizational behavior to students.

Publishing this book into Georgian language is also crucial on one hand due to its high demand of qualified books from students and lecturers’ side, and on the other hand practitioners for creating relevant organizational environment in public as well as private institutions.
