Academic Conference Dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of Immanuel Kant’s Birth

Immanuel Kant – 300
Academic Conference Dedicated to the 300th Anniversary of Immanuel Kant’s Birth
November 29-30, 2024
East European University – Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University

Immanuel Kant (1724-1804) is considered one of the greatest thinkers of humanity. His works significantly influenced the subsequent development of European philosophy, and his ideas remain relevant across various fields of science today. In Georgia, the reception of Kant’s philosophy has a fruitful history: Georgian thinkers (Solomon Dodashvili, Dadash Gelovani, Shalva Nutsubidze, Sergi Danelia, Guram Tevzadze, and others) have paid significant attention to studying the German philosopher’s works. Moreover, several of Kant’s works have been translated into Georgian (Critique of Pure Reason, Critique of Practical Reason, Groundwork for the Metaphysics of Morals, What is Enlightenment?. Religion within the Bounds of Bare Reason, Toward Perpetual Peace).

This conference, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of Kant’s birth, aims to analyze the German philosopher’s work in the context of the philosophy of international relations, politics, and law. The focus will be on the relevance of various aspects of Kant’s ideas to contemporary times. The conference is organized by the Varlam Cherkezishvili Center for Interdisciplinary Research (East European University) and the David Batonishvili Institute of Law (Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University).

The conference will take place on November 29-30. The session on November 29 will be held at East European University (6 I. Enukidze St.), and the session on November 30 will be at Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani University (3 K. Kutateladze St.). A concluding panel session will be held at the end of each day.
