Workshop with the Georgian Banking Association at East European University

On December 22, East European University (EEU) hosted an on-campus workshop titled “Modern Trends in the Development of the Georgian Banking Sector”, organized by the Faculty of Business and Engineering in collaboration with the Lifelong Learning Center (LLC).

The workshop was delivered by David Rusia, Analytical Director of the Georgian Banking Association and an independent member of the Supervisory Board of the Deposit Insurance Agency. During the event, the speaker presented the Georgian Banking Association, its mission, activities, and its role in supporting the development and coordination of the banking sector in Georgia.

Participants were introduced to the structure and functions of the Georgian Banking Association, as well as its collaboration with financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and international partners. The presentation also covered current developments in the banking sector, including the evolution of financial services, fintech innovations, and open banking initiatives.

Special attention was given to career opportunities in the banking and financial sector, the competencies required for employment in modern financial institutions, and the role of professional associations in supporting sector development and professional networking.

The event was opened by the Rector of East European University, Professor Kakhaber Lazarashvili. The workshop was also attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Business and Engineering, Professor Vasil Kikutadze, Vice-Dean Assistant Professor Tamta Lekishvili, and the Head of the Education Department, Associate Professor Ketevan Aptarashvili.

During the workshop, EEU students learned about:

  • the role and activities of the Georgian Banking Association;

  • the current state and development trends of the Georgian banking system;

  • the interaction between traditional banking institutions and fintech companies;

  • professional pathways and employment opportunities in the banking and financial sector.

The workshop concluded with an interactive discussion, during which students had the opportunity to ask questions and receive additional insights about career opportunities and professional development in the banking industry.

All participants of the workshop were awarded certificates of participation.
