Nona Goshadze (Assistant Professor)

Field: Medicine, Public Health

Head of the Nursing Development Department at the
“Geo Hospitals” Clinical Network

Nona Goshadze is a nursing specialist with extensive clinical, academic, and professional experience. Her main areas of expertise include nursing education, continuing professional development of healthcare personnel, emergency medical care, and the improvement of contemporary nursing practice.

Throughout her professional career, she has worked in the fields of clinical practice, education, and professional development. Since 2015, she has served as Head of the Nursing Development Service at the Geo Hospitals clinical network, where she leads the development of nursing services, the implementation of professional standards, and the continuing professional development of nursing personnel. At various times, she headed the nursing division of Georgia’s first Adult Emergency Medicine Department at the Nikoloz Kipshidze Central University Clinic. She also worked in the Intensive Care and Critical Cardiology Departments of the same clinic, at the Central Military Hospital of the Ministry of Defence of Georgia, and at other medical institutions.

She leads nurse-led quality improvement initiatives, including the development and implementation of nursing protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs), the standardisation of clinical practice, the introduction of quality indicators, and the development of unified nursing standards across the network’s clinics.

Since 2024, she has been actively involved in preparing clinics for international accreditation, ensuring the alignment of nursing practice with international standards, and improving quality indicators.

Alongside her professional activities, Nona Goshadze is actively engaged in academia. She currently serves as an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Healthcare Sciences at East European University. Her academic work encompasses the development of nursing education, the professional preparation of students, the enhancement of clinical skills, and the teaching of contemporary nursing practice.

Her research interests include nursing education, continuing medical education, and the professional development of healthcare professionals. She is a co-author of an international scientific publication. The study, “Attitudes of Emergency Medical Care Personnel Towards Continuing Medical Education and Professional Development: A Cross-Sectional Study of Physicians and Nurses,” was published in the European Scientific Journal in 2023.

She actively participates in international conferences and professional events as both a speaker and an organiser. She participated in the conference “Education – A Continuous Path to Development,” dedicated to International Nurses Day; Georgia’s first International Nursing Congress, “The Power of Nurses to Change the World”; and the international conference “International Accreditation and Related Challenges in the Nursing Sector,” where she delivered presentations on issues related to the development of nursing practice.

She is involved in international and local educational projects. From 2022 to 2025, she served as a facilitator for the USAID project “Postgraduate Nursing Education and Specialisation.” She also participated as a facilitator, trainer, and trainer-manager in professional and preventive educational projects supported by USAID, UNICEF, and Georgian government agencies in the healthcare sector. These projects covered nurses’ professional development, the retraining of primary healthcare nurses, general nursing, emergency medical care, prehospital nursing care, and health promotion.

As part of her professional development, she has completed numerous international and local professional development programmes and training courses, including those organised by the World Health Organization, UNICEF, BMJ Learning, and Emory University. She has also completed the accredited international training programme of the US-based Association for Leadership Science in Nursing (ALSN), “Together Towards the Future: Shaping Global Nursing Leadership Through Collaboration Between Science and Practice.”

Nona Goshadze’s professional work brings together clinical experience, academic activity, the development of nursing education, and international collaboration, making a significant contribution to strengthening contemporary nursing practice and the healthcare system.
