Giorgi Megrelishvili is a surgeon and Doctor of Science with extensive pedagogical and professional experience. Since 2012, he has served as the Medical Director of the Open Heart University Hospital. He holds state certificates from the Ministry of Health of Georgia in General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Clinical Transfusiology, Endocrine and Thoracic Surgery, as well as Laparoscopic Surgery.
He previously worked at the K. Eristavi Institute of Experimental and Clinical Surgery, where he consecutively held positions as a staff member of the Intensive Care and Resuscitation Department, Senior Laboratory Assistant, Research Associate, Head of the Surgical Team, and Head of the General Surgery Department.
In the course of his scientific work, he has published nearly 40 articles in Georgian and international journals. His study, “ Comperative assessment of liver tubular structures re-growth in right anatomical half of liver left after hemihepatectomiy or transplanted auto topically in experimental study.” “Awarded Best Paper by the European Association of Surgery in 2001.”
Giorgi is a member of several professional societies, including the International Society of Surgery, European Society of Surgery, European Society of Surgical Oncology, and the International Association of Surgeons, Gastroenterologists, and Oncologists.
