Research Skills Training Series: Strategies for Finding and Working with Academic Literature

Initiated by the Education department and the Scientific Research and Development Department at East European University (EEU), a new training series is being launched for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students.

The aim of the training series is to support the development of students’ research skills.

The first phase of the series begins with a comprehensive and flexible course titled “Strategies for Searching and Analyzing Academic Literature.”

Course Topics / Program:

  • Techniques for searching literature in international academic databases
  • Assessing the reliability of sources and strategies for processing academic literature
  • Citation rules according to different styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, etc.)

The course includes a practical component, where students will work on their own research topics—searching for literature in academic databases, evaluating its validity, applying processing strategies, and practicing citation rules.

Trainer:
Giorgi Tavadze – PhD in Philosophy, Professor at EEU, and Head of the Varlam Cherkezishvili Interdisciplinary Research Center

  • Total contact hours: 4.5 hours
  • Format: three sessions, each lasting 1.5 hours

  • Prerequisite: English language proficiency at B1 level

The course is fully funded by East European University and is free of charge for EEU students.

Certificate:
A certificate will be awarded upon completion of each course within the training series.
