On 12 October 2026 at 12:00, East European University (EEU) will host an international workshop entitled “Education for Sustainable Development: Challenges and Opportunities.”
The workshop will be led by Professor Maurizio Tira, Vice-President of the European University Association (EUA), Professor at the University of Brescia, and President of the GARR Consortium (Italy). Professor Tira will present EUA’s new strategic document on sustainability in education, “Education Beyond 2030.”
The workshop aims to explore the role of higher education in advancing sustainable development, facilitate the exchange of experience and good practices, and identify opportunities for future collaboration. Particular attention will be given to integrating sustainability principles into teaching and learning, research, university governance, and institutional social responsibility.
Universities from across Eastern Europe and Central Asia have been invited to participate. The workshop will provide a platform for dialogue among representatives involved in education policy, quality assurance, and university leadership and practice, while fostering stronger regional cooperation and the exchange of perspectives on the future of sustainable higher education.
