An educational–practical workshop “Living with Stroke” was held on 25 December 2025, organised by the student club “Neurozeal” of East European University (EEU) and the Faculty of Healthcare Sciences.
The aim of the event was to deepen clinical knowledge and practical skills related to stroke—from its clinical manifestations and emergency management to recovery and rehabilitation processes. Particular emphasis was placed on the physical, cognitive, and psychosocial impairments that may develop after stroke and their impact on patients’ quality of life, independence, and social participation.
The keynote speaker, Gocha Mtvarelishvili (Anesthesiologist–Intensivist and invited lecturer at the Faculty of Healthcare Sciences), addressed the audience on the use of brain imaging modalities (CT/MRI) in stroke diagnosis and the key features of identifying different types of stroke. He also conducted a practical simulation of post-stroke neurological examination using the NIH Stroke Scale.
Students actively participated in the interactive workshop, where they had the opportunity to practically assess post-stroke neurological status on simulated patients using the NIH Stroke Scale. The session was complemented by an exhibition of artworks created by real stroke survivors, as well as various awareness-raising activities aimed at encouraging active student engagement and knowledge sharing.
At the conclusion of the event, certificates were awarded to the participants and speakers of the educational–practical workshop.
