Admission processes at Education Sciences Doctoral Program is opened!

Doctoral Educational Program in Education Sciences is the first English doctoral program in Georgia, supported by the University of Middlesex (UK). Academic and invited staff from UK and leading European countries (France, Italy, Spain, Cyprus, Austria, etc.) are involved in the implementation of the program.

Program Leader/Co-Leader:

Louise Dalingwater – EEU Professor,  is full professor at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, Sorbonne Université. She is currently director of the research centre HDEA. She is Chair of the Health, Wellness and Society research network based in Illinois, United States.

David Sikharulidze  – EEU Professor, Head of the Department of educational Research and Development

Program Duration: 3 years

Academic Degree / Qualification Awarded: Doctor of Education Science

Program Admission Precondition:
  • Admission to the PhD program of Education Sciences requires the applicant to hold a Masters Degree or an equivalent academic degree.
  • Candidates for the doctoral program must have publication in the relevant field and/or participation in scientific-research projects and Activites and/or at least 2 years of work experience in the relevant field, demonstrating the candidate’s research skills.
  • Candidates for the doctoral program will be enrolled on the basis of university internal examinations;
  • University internal examinations include English language testing and interview with a field commission.
  • International Certificate of English C1 (TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, CERTUS) level proficiency exempts the candidate from the English language testing. Candidates who have completed a master’s or doctoral degree in English in the last 2 years are also exempted from the English language test.
Vacant Places and Important Deadlines
Number of Vacancies – 5 places;

Deadlines for submitting documents, conducting exams and sinning contracts:

  • Submitting documents – 1– 15 September;
  • Foreign Language Exam – 17th of September;
  • Announcement of foreign language exam results – 19 September;
  • Application for foreign language exam results appeal 19 -20 September
  • Results of the appeal – 22 September;
  • Specialty Exam (interview with the field commission) – 23 September;
  • Announcement of specialty exam results – 24 September;
  • Application for Specialty Exam – 24-25 September;
  • Results of the appeal – 27 September;
  • Signing contracts – 29-30 September;
Required Documents:
From September 1 to September 15, the doctoral candidate must submit the following documents (duly certified):

  • Application;
  • Copy of ID card / passport (In case of foreign citizenships, translated notarized of the Passport);
  • Notarized copies of the Master’s diploma or the equivalent academic degree and Diploma Supplement/ certificate on awarding the academic degree;
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) (in case of mentioning scientific publications and participation in conferences in the data on education and labor activity, the candidate for enrollment in the doctoral program must submit copies of the mentioned materials);
  • In case of submitting a one-level, five-year, certificate of higher education, a document certifying the degree equalization with the academic degree (issued by the National Center for Education Quality Development);
  •  The certificate of recognition of education received in a foreign country (if any, Notarized copy);
  • Photo (3X4) – Printed 2 pcs. and an electronic version on CD;
  • Notarized copy of military registration document / military ticket (for Georgian citizens subject to military registration);
  • Research Statement (to be completed in English);
  • Cover letter in English (see instructions on the link);
  • A notarized copy / original of the C1 level English language (TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, CERTUS) proficiency certificate (if any) or a document certifying the study of an English educational (master / doctoral) program in the last 2 years;
  • publication in the relevant field and/or a document certifying participation in scientific-research projects and events and/or work experience (minimum 2 Years)
